The purpose of this Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan Summary Assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the process and vocabulary of a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). A Behavior Intervention Plan is used within schools to intervene in inappropriate behaviors of a student by adjusting the environmental antecedents and consequences of the behavior. A Functional Behavioral Assessment is the basis of a Behavior Intervention Plan. It is important that teachers and administrators understand the process involved in completing a Functional Behavioral Assessment and the development of a Behavior Intervention Plan.
To successfully complete this Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan Summary Assignment, you will need to:
1. Read O’Neill’s Functional Assessment and Program Development for Problem Behavior: A Practical Handbook.
2. Complete a summary outlining the process and/or steps of a Functional Behavioral Assessment and the development of a Behavior Intervention Plan based on information gleaned from O’Neill’s handbook.
